Routine & Medical Eye Exams

Periodic eye exams are an integral part of any health and eye care strategy. Adults ages 20 to 64 should have an eye exam at least every two years. If you’re 65 or older, we recommend you get an eye exam annually. The process may include a dilated exam that enables Dr. Zamora to see inside your eye and check for signs of eye disease or other conditions that could impair vision or health over time.

Adult and Senior Eye Exam

The comprehensive eye exam for adults and seniors is an evaluation of your complete eye and vision health. It includes several vision measurement exercises using lettered charts and other measurement instruments to determine how well you see objects that are near and far, to measure your peripheral vision and your depth of field, and to assess other elements of your vision.

Glaucoma Exam

Glaucoma is a silent eye disease that causes damage to the ocular nerve head, the part of the nerve that transmits visual images to your brain where they can be “interpreted.” Basically, the pressure in your eye slowly starts to damage your optic nerve and gradually begins to affect your peripheral vision. It is almost impossible to detect glaucoma without an eye exam. Dr. Zamora will use a special eye drop to dilate or widen the pupil so she can see the optic nerve and other internal structures of the eye.

Children's Exam

Clear vision plays a critical role in your child’s learning process, both inside and outside the classroom. When your child’s vision is compromised, it can hinder their development and their ability to learn. During the appointment, we’ll make sure your child is completely comfortable while checking for vision problems that commonly present in childhood like amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (eye turn), color vision deficiency, and myopia (near-sightedness).

Contact Lens Exam

We’re ready to help you see clearly without glasses. First, Dr. Zamora will examine your eyes and evaluate them for special considerations, like astigmatism or myopia. She’ll measure your corneal topography to find your eye’s unique dimensions. Then, she will also take into consideration any issues like pupil size, dry eyes, and any contact lens preferences you might have. Using this information will ensure to find the right contact lens style and brand that best suit your eyes.

Diabetic Eye Exam

Individuals with diabetes have unique eye health and visual needs and should see their optometrist annually. If you have diabetes, you’re more likely to develop certain systemic and ocular issues such as cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. Apart from providing a basic eye exam, Dr. Zamora will run additional tests for diseases associated with diabetes. These additional tests include examining the cornea, iris, lens, retina, macula, and optic nerve for any irregularities.
